The exchange -
Information, good|service, some form of currency.

Every platform interaction start with exchange of information. It helps party to decide wether and how to engage in further exchange. Upwork or yelp Exchange of info takes place from the platform bussiness.

Exchange of good or service may also occur through platform or outside, facebook or outside like uber. Each itemm exchanged can be called as value unit.

One form of currency is money while other form though which consumer pay intengibally producer is by attention, this adds value to producer in many ways like enhancing the reputation, influence. Uber offer service outside of platform but monetise on platform. A platform that capture attention can monetise by other third party.

The core interaction [why]-
The core interaction involve participation, value unit, filter.

The participants are prdoucers and consumers. Both role must be explicitly described and understood. The same user can be both and well defined system makes it easy to switch the roles.

The value unit, every interaction start with exchange of information and in virtually every case it start with creation of value unit by producer.

The value unit is delivered to selected consumers based on the filters. A well designed system make sure consumer only receives the value unit relevant to him. Every platform does it.

Later the platform can facitilate many kind of interaction but it begins with single core interaction. The platforms are information factory that have no control over inventory. They create the floor

Pull, facitilate, match [how]- the platform must pull producer and consumer. It must fascitilate their interaction. And must match producer and consumer effectively.

Pull, User won’t come to a platform until it is useful, platform don’t have until users use it. And the second challange is keeping the interest of users who visit. The one solution could be single user feedback loop, it draws conclusion based on users preference and needs. The other could be multiuser feedback. An activity from producer deliver to consume, and fed back to producer. Facebook status. Pull can be increased by leveraging outside network, piggybacking on Facebook.

Fascitilate. Pricinple that governs these interaction. One aspect is to making it easy for producers to create and exchange the valuable good. Or decreasing Barrier, instagram just snap, modify, upload.

Match. The data for optimal matching maybe diverse, static like identity, genders, nationality to daynamics like are, point of interest in time. A sophasticated data model like facebook can consider all this factor adn previous activity on the platform. Some platform incentivise to provide the data, other leverage game elements. Some ask to signup through facebook.

Beyond the core interaction Ride sharing for uber and LinkedIn.

End to end pricinple - the core system should be clean and simple, the other activity that are not central but valuable should be at the edge and shouldn’t draw resource from the core. The core layer that restrict variety that is sitting underneath an evolving layer that enables variety.

Modularity - unambiguous, precise. Like computer.

ANI-design - as it is more designed by user not manager, it should be open to user quirks like hashtag for facebook.
